Sure, the new C8 Corvette is great – but I love the C7

For holistic brilliance and ageless styling, the last-gen Corvette may just be my favorite American car of all time. (Photo via Chris Butsch)

The first time I saw a C7 Corvette in 2014, I probably gave Chevy the exact reaction they were looking for. “Is that a Ferrari?” The styling of reminded me of an Olympic figure skater – chiseled, yet elegant. Leaps prettier than the C6.

I wouldn’t get the chance to drive one until 2019 – and upon exiting my first hard corner, I sat mouth agape. I couldn’t believe how well GM’s Magnetic Ride Control had tamed all 460 ponies galloping under the hood.

Aside from negligible depreciation keeping prices out of my reach, I can’t find much fault with the C7.
